The Principal of the Ayurveda is body made up of five elements that is Panch mahabhoot (ether, air, fire, water and earth). Ayurveda does not look into isolated parts of the human anatomy, it promotes the personal approach to understand the unique property of each individual. Body consists of three humors or energies i.e Vata, Pitta and kapha. If these three energies are in balanced form then there is no disorder in the body.
According to Ayurveda, Osteoporosis is caused by the accumulation of the Vata dosha in the bones which can result in bones breaking due to overflow of these elements. Along with the Vata dosha, there is also dysfunctioning of the Asthivata srotas (channels that supply nutrients to the bones). The first sign to be arise is cracking of nails and teeth, pain in the bones and change in the hair such as brittle, hair loss etc. One should keep this in mind that it takes years for the symptoms to be appear.
